It is crazy how mentally wearing weight loss can be, and not just committing to the process and following through with the lifestyle changes that make it possible, but the aftermath of changing from the old to the new you! It reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" With weight loss, we so often get bogged down with guilt and incorrect perceptions. We still see the people we were in the mirror, even though 20, 40, or 100 pounds has been lost. The same is true with our walk in Christ. We get saved and cannot seem to stop seeing ourselves as the sinner, the evil person, and are weighed down by our guilt and former life! But, THE OLD HAS GONE, THE NEW HAS COME! This is where that glorious phrase, "...We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ," (2 Corinthians 10:5) comes into play. As we lose weight and get healthy and fit, we must continue to filter our thoughts with the truth; "No, I am not fat! I am a size 4!" or "No, I am not a horrible eater! It was 5 M&Ms!" This is the same concept regarding our walk with Christ; "No, I am not guilty! Christ already paid that price for my sins! I am clean!" and "I have no reason to be ashamed of my past. It brought me to where I now am, and I have learned so much, even with the pain! Thank you Jesus!" The truth is truly beautiful and we must be always training our minds to reflect the truth and to learn the truth, growing in really knowing and believing it! Practice makes perfect though! So, start talking to yourself in truth today!
